This blog's overarching theme is flexibility in the behavior repertoires of humans and other animals. The question addressed is what features of biology, behavior and environment allow species to persist in zones of transition and outside of preferred zones. At times, this blog indulges in abstraction to explore, among other things, the generalist-specialist/fox-hedgehog "dichotomy". Occasional free verse is meant for those for whom observing nature is second-nature.
